At dawn the forest awakens to the sounds of tree-clearing machines. Work is underway to cut a lane through the Dannenröder Forest to make way for the construction of the A49 highway, a project that has provoked resistance since the very beginning. Starting with citizens' initiatives 40 years ago, the protest reached its climax end of 2019: The Dannenröder Forst, as well as two other forests were occupied. With the occupation, a „liberated space“ was created between trees and bushes, which thousands used to gather and defend the forest. "ENDZEIT" attempts to illustrate the self-organized protest of forest occupations, which is perhaps the most important form of demonstration the young generation can use to bring about political change regarding the climate

Elliott Kreyenberg is a German photographer who explores social change from an artistic documentary perspective. He was born in Cologne in 1999 and grew up in Berlin. He attends the Ostkreuz School of Photography and will graduate there in 2023. For him photography is for him an important means to end accelerate things, in a world that is always changing. Seeking to understand this change is an essential part of his work.
